Turn off AutoPlay on Windows

On Windows, when you insert an USB or a CD/DVD into your computer, they are usually opened automatically. So the computer maybe infected autorun virus. To avoid that, you should turn off AutoPlay function.

  • Turn off AutoPlay on Windows XP: updating...
  • Turn off AutoPlay on Windows 7:
  1. Click Start > go to Control panel. Then click AutoPlay.
  2. On AutoPlay function: Uncheck Use AutoPlay for all media and devices option. Then click Save.

  • Turn off AutoPlay on Windows 8: 
  1. Right click on Start button > choose Control panel. Then click AutoPlay.
  2. Similar to Windows 7, on AutoPlay function: Uncheck Use AutoPlay for all media and devices option. Then click Save.
