Resolve Windows Update is checking too long

On Microsoft Windows 7 (SP1) or Server 2008 (R2), many people see a problem with Windows Update. That is Windows checking for updates too long, too slow and non stop. Now we have some tips to resolve it (update date: 6/25/2016).

  • Open Task Manager, browse to Services tab. Find and stop service name: wuauserv (Windows Update).
  • Open your browser and go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=49542. Download the file and open it. Click Yes to install Update for Windows (KB3102810). 
  • Restart your computer after installation complete.
That's all. Now open Windows Update to see the result.
